SustainAvia is a certification and environmental research organization specialized in the aviation sector. SustainAvia is part of VerifAvia, a verification body of greenhouse gas emissions for the aviation sector under the EU ETS.
When it was set up in 2009, SustainAvia was providing technical assistance to airlines and business jet operators affected by the European Union Emissions Trading Scheme (EU ETS). SustainAvia offered a range of consulting and technical services addressed to aircraft operators in the EU ETS. Click here for more information.
When VerifAvia was accredited as an aviation EU ETS verifier on 1 November 2010, all EU ETS activities of SustainAvia were transfered to VerifAvia. The reason was to avoid any conflict of interest, to safeguard the independence and impartiality of VerifAvia's verification services, and to allow the team to focus on EU ETS verification.
Since then, SustainAvia has been focusing on environmental research for airlines and business jet operators. SustainAvia's team members are all professional and experimented auditors and economic researchers specialized in the aviation sector.
SustainAvia currently participes in three CleanSky projects: Project CARING (Contribution of Airlines for the Reduction of Industry Nuisances and Gases), Project BASE (Business Aviation for a Sustainable Environment) and Project FRARS-2 (Future Regional Aircraft Requirements Survey – Part 2).
Through the accreditation of VerifAvia, we are currently considering developing our certification capabilities in Environmental Management Systems (EMS) for airlines and in aviation biofuels.
